Focus on cyber security: GRAEF Group at the Federal Expert Commission in the House of the Economic Council

On May 12, 2025, the GRAEF Group took part in an important meeting of the Federal Cyber Security Commission at the House of the Economic Council in Berlin. Under the leadership of Prof. Timo Kob, founder and CEO of HiSolutions AG, key topics on the future of digital security in Germany were on the agenda - with a specific focus on strategic developments, government procurement processes and budget planning.
Strengthening the cyber security strategy in Germany
A central topic of the event was the further development of the German cyber security strategy. In his presentation, Dr. Reinhard Brandl MdB, member of the Digital Affairs Committee and the Defence Committee, emphasized the growing importance of digital defence in the context of global threats. It became clear that cyber security must remain an integral part of coalition negotiations - with long-term investments, a clear legal framework and a strong public-private partnership model.
Public financing and budget planning
Klaus-Peter Willsch MdB, CDU/CSU parliamentary group and rapporteur for Section 11, explained the challenges and opportunities of funding cyber security measures at federal level. The need to make state infrastructures resilient against cyber attacks requires a smart and future-oriented allocation of funds - especially in areas such as employment and social administration, energy supply and healthcare.
Strategic software procurement for public authorities
Another highlight was the presentation and discussion of the position paper "Strengthening sovereignty and security in the procurement of software for public administration", again led by Prof. Timo Kob. It became clear that digital sovereignty can only be guaranteed through controllable, transparent and auditable software solutions. This also includes the promotion of European providers and open source solutions - a concern that the GRAEF Group expressly supports.
