PSI Magazine has subjected the Ajax Systems alarm system to a detailed AJAX alarm system test, carried out by an independent testing institute. The result was enthusiastic: the testers awarded 9.5 out of 10 points. They praised the easy setup and use via the app as well as the long service life. The large number of components, which allows the system to be customized, was particularly praised.

A brief overview of the test: "The Ajax alarm system is an EN50131 Class 2 wireless system and consists of a group of components that can be combined and assembled as desired to meet a variety of requirements, for both home and office environments. The components are available in white or black to suit the desired installation location. Setup, management and monitoring are all done via smartphone. The long battery life means the system is easy to use. With a primary connection via Wi-Fi and a secondary connection via the telephone network, the system can be monitored personally or connected to a monitoring service.

First steps with the AJAX alarm system

The system can be purchased in different packages: As a basic starter set with a small number of detectors, a medium starter set consisting of a larger number of components or individually. The system is used in conjunction with a smartphone app, where it can be set up and managed. Alternatively, a remote control and a PC program can also be used. Communication between the devices is wireless via the specially developed Jeweller wireless technology, which offers a range of up to 2000 meters (less indoors). All components come ready to use, i.e. batteries already included, with a lifespan of 3-7 years. The smartphone app is available for Android (4.1+) and iOS (9+) and can be downloaded free of charge from the respective store. Once registration is complete, you can link components and users to the app.

Hardware in the AJAX alarm system test

Seventeen devices were provided for the test, which can be divided into system components, intrusion detectors, other detectors, sirens and control units. System components - The three system components are the hub, also known as the intelligent control unit; this is the central device that communicates with all the devices. It is the only element that requires a power connection, although it is supported by internal rechargeable batteries with up to 15 hours of operation. The hub has an Ethernet interface to a broadband router. A SIM card can be installed as an alternative connection option in the event of network or broadband failure.

Intrusion detectors and other detectors

There are two opening detectors: "DoorProtect" and "DoorProtect Plus". In addition to the basic functions, the Plus version also has tilt and shock detection. Both have a small and a large magnet included in the scope of delivery, suitable for an opening threshold of 1 and 2 cm respectively. The motion detectors include a PIR sensor for indoor use ("MotionProtect") and a microwave motion sensor ("MotionProtect Plus"). "MotionProtect Curtain" is a curtain motion detector and has an IP54 rating with a detection angle of 6° x 90°. "CombiProtect" offers a PIR sensor and audio glass breakage detection. "MotionProtect Outdoor" is an IP54 dual PIR with an option for an external 12V power supply. All PIRs have anti-masking and a reasonable level of immunity for pets, with restrictions of pet size up to 50 cm and weight up to 20 kg for indoor units.

Other detectors and sirens

"FireProtect" is an optical and temperature sensor with a built-in siren that detects smoke and temperature fluctuations. A temperature above 60°C or an increase of more than 30° in less than 30 minutes triggers an alarm. "FireProtect Plus" adds a carbon monoxide sensor to the basic device. Both devices can operate autonomously and generate a sound level of 85dB at a distance of 3 meters when triggered. These devices are EN14604 compliant (smoke detectors for residential properties). The "LeaksProtect" device has four contacts to detect water damage as soon as it occurs. This component is always active and can easily be placed at ground level near washing machines and dishwashers or areas at risk of flooding.

A large selection of sensors and simple set-up offer very quick installation. Good monitoring function combined with a long service life ensure uncomplicated system management. The AJAX alarm system experience shows that the system is an excellent choice for security monitoring of residential and commercial premises. The AJAX system offers comprehensive protection thanks to its ease of use and the ability to be customized to suit different needs. The AJAX alarm system test and the AJAX alarm system test confirm the high quality and reliability of the system. The positive AJAX alarm system experiences and the enthusiastic test results make the AJAX system a first-class choice for anyone looking for a reliable and effective security solution.
